Eletric Bike (Plan B)
I started with a Incline shaft drive bike frame (some assembly required).
This is a 17 inch aluminum frame with 26 inch rims and has a Sturmey-Archer
3 speed (internal) rear hub. I added a
Golden Island 450 (700 peak) watt front
hub motor kit along with three
Hawker SBS
12 volt/12 Ahr batteries and a WattsUp
power meter. I had not yet installed the speedometer when I had a small problem.
The front wheel collapsed when I hit a pothole at 25 mph (based on the motor's spec).
Some observers thought the speed was faster. The WattsUp meter was showing a 887
watt draw. Time to move to plan C (with a hellmet next time).
